30D Kit Lens ?

17-85 IS and 50 f/1.8

The 17-85 IS is much better than the kit. Add the 50 f/1.8 ($80USD) for low light, and you are set for awhile. Practice using both those lenses and then you can make a better decision on what to buy next.
