I did a search and game up with a threads on filters and adapters, however I'm not sure I fully understand how they all will work with the 6900. I should have mine from Helix today or tomorrow and on the advise of someone else here suggested to get a good multi-coated UV filter then a lens cap over that?

With that said, how does the adapter ring work with the 6900 and what is the difference using at 52 or 55mm adapter ring? In the future I plan to buy a wide and tele lens for the 6900 so I'm guessing I'll need to buy an adapter ring to attach it? I know that I will buy a number of filters pretty quickly after getting the camera so how will I attach them, with the adapter ring? Do you place a lens cap over the attached filter then?

Please excuse my rambling...I'm just too excited to get my shiny new camera in my hands this week and an eager to learn as much as I can quickly :)

Not sure about this one but I think it mean what's the diameter of the filter that you could thread on to the other end of the adapter. My adapter is 52mm and I have no idea if there's a 55mm.

Yes, you'll need to buy an adaptor to secure your filters to your 6900.

Look at the barrel where the lens is when your 6900 is power OFF. Turn ON the 6900 and the len protrude out of the barrel. The adaptor is secure to the internal rim of the barrel and you should notice there's threading on the inside.

You secure your filters on the other end of the adaptor and you could secure your lens cap on the filter if you choose to. Note the when you power OFF the 6900 with the adaptor on, it does not retract, only the lens inside the adaptor does.

Pardon me if you get confuse from my explaination as I am very bad at expressing stuff :)

Hi Dragonfly,

No you have done a great job explaining the process and as I am in the process of buying the adapter, filters etc etc,you have helpt me to get a better "grip"on the subject.
Thanks for that,
Cheers,

Robin,

Thanks very much for the info. From reading that entire thread and
since I don't own any filters at all it would probably be best for
me to grab the Fuji Adapter at 55mm and buy all my future filter
purchases at 55mm, right?
Yes, absolutely. The thread on the end of the adapter tube is 55mm and if you were to purchase any smaller filters, you would have to buy a step-down adapter as well.

However really good filters are expensive, and should you have access to some second-hand (high-quality) filters of a smaller diameter, it may well be worthwhile buying the step-down and the secondhand filters. However do be careful that the reduction is not too great, since if the filter diameter is too small you may well get vignetting at wider apertures.

And BTW I would never advise effectively downgrading the superb quality of the Fujinon lens by attaching a poor-quality filter!--Regards,Robin [Redbreast]

Only problem is that - at least in the US - Fuji 55-55 barrel adapter has been on back order for months.
