Random matrix results not predictable

This is my only gripe about my D80. As other posters have stated, it's not simply a matter of dialing in -.3 or -.7 EV. I saw results of one fellow who was stuck in an airport for a while. He took about 100 shots using matrix metering with the D80. Around 20 persent were exposed perfectly. Most of the others were overexposed for 0.3 to 1.0 EV. How do you anticipate that??

It's probably a good thing that I didn't have the option to test the D80 next to the D200. I probably would hae made the same decision as the OP.

I just wonder how all the reviews of this camera seemed to have missed this significant flaw? It popped up on the very first picture I took.

My solution is to never use matrix metering. Hopefully, as a previous poster has mentioned, Nikon will fix this problem. I really don't need all of the features of the D200. But I could sure use reliable matrix metering (like I have on my D70!).
