I love my KM 7D but it's been giving me error messages lately.
I've owned a Pentax film SLR previously and still have the lenses.
Now I'm thinking of getting the K10D if the high ISO shots look ok.
I definitely will get the extra battery grip sense I do use this
often with my KM7D. The Pentax grip is a little different than
most. The three other grips I have, all have the option to use AA
batteries in place of the standard OEM recharge ones. In
researching the K10D grip, it doesn't mention or show the AA option.

Does anyone have any insight to this?

No, it uses the same battery as the body and when the grip is attached it doubles the capacity as it does not replace, but adds to that battery. You can also elect which battery you wish to use first.
