Hi everyone,

I'm looking for a comfortable Hand Strap for use with my 20D (without the BG-E2 Grip). I've seen a few in my searching, but all that I've seen would prevent me from keeping my Manfrotto QR Plate permanenetly attached to the Camera.

Does anyone know of a Hand Strap that would still allow me to keep a Manfrotto QR Plate permanently attached to the Camera.

I know there are other methods (switch to RRS QR or others etc..etc..) but I'd like to stick with the equipment I have for now.

Any Ideas?

Thanks,

Bill

I have a Hakuba strap that is made the same way. It's great but it takes up the tripod socket. And dont even think about using the socket that is built into the strap -- it's not a setup that I would trust sitting on top of a tripod.

Exactly, if only they had taken this idea but used a brass (or at least a metal of some kind) attachment.

I have one and I love it. I found it here on Dpreview.com but I can't remember the name. Do a search. It's leather, adjustable and let's me keep the tripod pieces on my 5D

Excellent!!

Thank-you..Thank-You! and they even have one for the Manfrotto QR too!

Which adapter did you get and also which strap (Kid Leather or Top Grain Leather)?

Oh.. BTW.. did I say... THANK-YOU! :)

I have a Manfrotto but I also have a Gitzo - it works for both. I have the soft glove leather. I emailed or called the manufacturer so that I got the right plate from the start. He was very helpful and he shipped it right away for me. It's perfect. I have the neckstrap on as well so I can keep it on my neck too if I were in a position I needed a free hand.

I really like the extra stability and I think that I can do shots that are lower in shutter speed and still be handheld - no camera shake!

Thanks again,

I was wondering whether or not to order the Manfrotto adapter or the regular one as the regular one looked to have a raised edge which I thought would prevent the plate from turning (the manfrotto appears flat).

But, in the end.. I ordered the Manfrotto as it means I'd have one less attachment on the camera. Does your manfrotto adapter stay in place well without shifting or turning when pressure is applied to it when using the hand strap?

Todd:

I agree, the tripod mount on the Hakuba is not very sturdy. Thats one of the reasons I like the Camdapter product so much. It is solid aluminum and has a nice solid tripod thread on it.

Plus if you use a manfrotto QR head they now have a "New" plate that fits like a 3157N.

Nice products, they ship fast and the owner is great to work with if you have any questions.

The original poster's message specifically stated that he was NOT using the grip.

True, and I was telling him that he can have either or with his current set up ;O)
He can have both if he gets the grip!

Thanks, but I have the grip. It's been on the camera once and has been in it's box ever since.

I just didn't like it, what else can I say :)

However, I've been using my Camadapter and love it!

So much so, I immediately ordered a second one for my wife.

Who am I kidding.... she tried it on MY camera, and now I had to order one for ME :/
