OZ FZ in NZ

Hi Rafael, just had some leisure to look at your first NZ posting a bit more closely. Great place, great photos! You probably took hundreds and every one of them brings back some fond memories!

I'm happy your wife got to see her whales, too. Awesome scenery, what a lovely place. Any more pics coming?

I like your signature photo, too. I've taken several "panorama possibilities" in the Grampians, but for now the realization of them is in the "too hard" basket.
Cheers, Ella

Ella,

Thanks. It was a great trip and I did take hundreds of photos that will bring back memories when I look back over them. I might put away the NZ series soon. Too much of a good thing and all.

By the way the pano stuff is easier than you think. I used a freeware piece of software called autosticth ( http://www.cs.ubc.ca/~mbrown/autostitch/autostitch.html pointed it the files I wanted and off it went. The only issues is if you want a bigger file you have to change the setting from a 10% size to greater and then you just have to leave your PC alone for a while whilst it churns through its calculations. It seems to work much better than the SW that comes with the FZ30.

Cheers

Rafael,

I love your photographs of NZ. You certainly sold me on the idea of putting it on my 2go list. You have a great eye for composition, and that FZ30 really captures incredibly sharp details. I have been thinking about upgrading from my FX01 to a FZ7, but now I am having second thoughts about moving up to a double-digit FZ. Thanks for sharing.

..NZ is one of the many places on the "do list" & your part 1 & part 2 posts confirm that. From the repetition of words such as - saavignon blanc cabernat merlot & venison etc it also to be very nice gastronomically as well, I hope the livers held up to the work out. Thx for posting. Ron S

Ron,

Thanks for looking. I have a firm belief that when you travel you should use all your senses so my liver is in constant training.

Hi Rafael, don't put the series away just yet! There must be lots more to look at and drool over!

I decided to organize my shots into chapters; right now I'm putting together a number of shots of the aftermath and recovery of the bushfires; another one will deal with wildflowers of the region, then perhaps one on "abstract nature"- a little experiment of mine. Who knows, I might even find a poor soul somewhere in forumland, who will admit to being a TTN (tree trunk nut) like myself- I love tree trunks, no two are alike and to me they're beautiful works of art! Then there's the local wildlife and more treks into the rocky mountains - Hollow Mountain, Golton Gorge, Hollow Cave, Mount Zero, just to mention a few. Those who are bored with my shots won't look anyway, but somebody might just like to have another look at this beautiful part of the world- just like the place you just came back from!
So keep 'em coming!
Cheers, Ella

because 4 of the first photos I took with the FZ30 were of.....gum tree trunks (I specialise). I decided I was not yet good enough to do it so I have dropped off until my skills improve, but I will get there. So please show me some tree trunks

...for tree trunks! I have zillions of them! But not too many on digital yet.

(Maybe just as well!) At the rate at which I'm uploading my photos, about 10 mins. each, it will take forever. ( I'm not quite sure if its the slow computer or the slow computer operator!)

I don't think the photos need to be perfect, the tree trunks have their own charm and beauty. So be brave and show me yours!
Thanks also for the panorama help, I will try it soon.
Cheers, Ella
