Re: F30 vs. SD10: my results

I have some comparison shots at Fuji high ISO800 + higher online at http://www.pbase.com/sandyfleischman/fujifilm_f30_pointshoot Background: I bought the F30 last week because I want a low-light, indoor "museum" pocketable camera in addition to SD10. I find the DSLR very hard to hold in museums, galleries, places, where even monopods aren't permitted. My "fastest" EX lenses do okay rendering the proper color and with little noise at ISO400 but I struggle with cam size. Plus the F30 is supposed to be SO good at low light, I thought this would be a good test against my (coming soon I hope) SD14 for comparison. So results, see online: Fuji F30 can handle the low-light but the shots are NOISY at ISO800 and ISO1600, museum mode setting. Granted I didn't try various manual settings, coming next time. AND the big surprise is that the Polaroid x530 with the small Foveon imager does a very credible chimera at ISO200 auto vs the F30's ISO800! That seems to be the equivalency. The x530 shots are noisy as taken, but not noisier than the F30, then I ran the x530 through Noiseware Community edition (freeware) and the chimera looks pretty snappy. pun intended, look at the teeth. The comparisons with SD14 are going to be fun....
Nothing scientific in 'tests' here, just real-life photo occasions
