WD Raptor 150 and Aperture??

Hi all,

I'm using a macbook pro and have 2 question.

I want to buy a external drive for my 15" macbook pro to use with Aperture. I'm thinking of buying the Western Digital Raptor 150GB 10.000 harddrive together with a external enclosure.

  • On the Western Digital site it states that their SATA harddrives are not compatible with OSX (see below). Any one has any experience with that?

Operating System WD SATA Hard Drive Compatibility WD EIDE Hard Drive Compatibility
Windows® 2000 or XP Yes Yes
Windows 98SE No Yes
Windows 98 No Yes
Mac® OS X No Yes
Mac OS 9.x No Yes

Note: Compatibility may vary depending on user's hardware configuration and operating system.

  • Will my libary be loaded a lot faster by using the Raptor as harddrive compared to a "normal" 7200rpm external harddrive. Do you think I will see a overall increase in working speed by using this drive?

Thanks for your reply.
