I'm very satisfied with this lense - would not hesitate to use it
at f/2.8 if thats whats needed (at any focal length).

I do not spend my time pixel peeping, shooting test charts all day
and looking to quantify the exact numerical resolution of every
lense i own, but i do think its a very nice lense - not razor sharp
wide open, but not many lenses are (not for the money you pay for
this also). For my purposes it is plenty sharp, and as i said i
wouldnt hesitate to use it wide open. If my shots arent sharp then
i do not blame my lenses - its more likely it was poor techinque -
most modern lenses can produce wonderfully sharp photos with the
right technique.

Not wide open, I guess. Either resolution matters or it doesn't-- where do you stand? If your shot isn't sharp at f/2.8, do you blame your lens which you say is not the sharpest, or your faulty technique?

The AF is quite loud, but consistent and accurate, and i dont
notice it particuarly and neither does anyone else. I dont get any
problems with flair either.
