Hi P.,

Look at the post 'Here is my GPS solution' from 'txt' a little
higher in this thread. It's quite easy to use the software.

Ok, I will take a look

Most of the programs work with jpegs only. With d70reader (Google for homepage) you can transplant the exif from the jpeg to the nef. The whole process can be captured in a batch file, I'm sure.

In my view it's way more practical to have the GPS off camera
constantly gathering the data.

Why? I think this is more pratctical, but it is just a feeling.
Furthermore, the data I need doesn't have to be accurate for more
than 10 - 20 meters, so the last digits are not necessary

It's not in the way when shooting and does it's work unnoticed. All you have to do is set the camera precisely on time. The programs also calculate the expected position if you have no direct connection; an on-camera GPS gives an error. Although the last digit will probably be used after the firmware upgrade, people mentioned it gave a 60 meter error.

BTW, can't your father come up with a solution? How hard can it be
if you know your way around electronics?

Yes he can and he will. It's just stupid he has to figure it out
hilmself now. He could have used this time to improve things on
existing diagrams.

Cool. Make sure he posts his findings so others can benefit. Did you see this thread:

You need a MC-35 but I think it's cool, also because you can use the GPS bluetooth signal for electronic maps in a PDA at the same time.

Good luck.
