DA16-45 VS Sigma 17-70 test {seek conclusion}

It's definitly the best lens to replace the kit 18-55 IMHO. I didn't mention in my original post, I actually went through

Sigma 28-80 DG EX -> DA16-45 -> Sigma 17-70 (back focus) -> Sigma 24-70 DG EX -> DA16-45 -> Sigma 17-70

Finally settle with the Sigma 17-70 and it is that good (again I totally upset the salse person by returning for so many times)

All sigmas I tried has yellow cast. 24-70 is the best in sharpness. 28-70 does not even deserve an EX badge. You can see how well DA16-45 perform in this thread.

17-70 is simply the best to me (16mm would be better, but it's better than the kit 18mm anyway), f2.8 at 17mm (though PQ is not that great wide open at 17mm, but it's still an option), very good PQ, broader range, macro, not too big to be a walk around lens (which the 24-70 isn't)
