Gentle skin retouching of old people?

I have attended a family gathering, and taken several portraits of the older members of the family. The "problem" is that the 5D/85 1.2 is so sharp that it reveals every imperfection in the skin of their faces, in unforgiving detail. Personally I like the pictures, but I think the subjects themselves may find them too harsh.

Is there an easy way I can maintain the sharpness of the images, while giving a littlle more gentle skin presentation?
Advice appreciated. I use RSP and, if necessary, CS2.
