Hi Everyone,

My pc has been acting up lately, last week windows froze up and as a last resort I had to press the reset button, which did fix things.

But everything seems to be taking ages, much longer than it should, so I have backed up my documents and was hoping to reformat the hard drive, and reinstall everything.

The only problem is I can't find my windows xp home id code - can't even remember whether I ever got a booklet when I bought it.

Under system properties I can find out a registration number, but this is not the required number.

Is there any way I can find out this information from my computer, or microsoft.

Any advice would be most appreciated, also reasons as to why windows freezes, it has never happened to me before.

Thanks in advance

Hi Again,

I've just looked at my windows 98 booklet from an old computer and the term I should have said is the product key - how do I find out what it is for my xp home edition.

Thanks again

The product key is either, on the CD folder in the XP software box (if you bought the full or upgrade version). or, if your computer came with XP pre-installed it should be on a sticker somewhere on the computer. On my laptop its stuck to the bottom.

Dont know what microsoft will say if you cannot quote it though.
