Anyone disappointed in Canon's announcements?

Think I would even prefer the specs of the 400D in a 30D body to a 5D!
Well, let's see if the dust buster works. Or if it just breaks down and has to be replaced after six months!

That's the only REAL advantage the 400D CAN have over the 30D. Sure, a 10.1 mp censor sounds great. It even allows you to do a 300 dpi print that's 22*33 cm instead of the 20*30 cm the 8.2 mp censor gives you. In orther words: it means nothing in real life!

If I'm dissapointed at anything, it would be that Canon jumped back into the mp race!

Not really, & I Love my 30D - but give me an 11mp or 12mp version of the 30D & I'll be even happier! And a EF 22-85mm 2.8L IS

why would someone opt for the 70-200IS f4 when there is already a
70-200IS 2.8 for not much more? I think people would rather have a
50-150IS f4
A lot of people prefer the f/4 version over the f/2.8 version because of its size and weight. Some even own both lenses and use the f/4 lens when travelling and for other occasions where f/2.8 isn't necessary.

The 70-200/4L IS weighs 760 grams, measures 172mm length, and has a filter diameter of 67mm. The 70-200/2.8L weighs 1310 grams, measures 194mm in length, and has a filter diameter of 77mm. So the 70-200/4L IS obviously has a considerable size/weight advantage, even with IS. Plus, IS is a considerable advantage for handholding at slower shutter speeds. Additionally, as someone who already owns a 70-200/4L, I think 200mm is is as short as I would go on the telephoto end and I would not want it to be cut down to 150mm. But I also own the 100-400L IS, so maybe I'm spoiled by the ability to zoom all the way out to 400mm with that lens. So a telephoto zoom lens that only takes you to 150mm isn't very attractive. Besides, a 70-200/4L IS makes a nice complement to a 24-105/4L IS or 17-85 EF-S IS.

Every 18 months Canon update there lineup, they have lenses to cover every focal length required and availability is second to none:

Pop over to the Olympus forum for disappointment - people just as pationate about there gear, but still waiting on an E3.

We have 2 great new lenses to choose from.

Last time I checked this was about taking images not buying gear. But if you need it, it's available. So why all the freustration?

------------ Sounded like you [a] want to fill that gap on a 1.6x body now, but want to develop a range that will work on a FF body later, too ...?

When the 5D comes down in price, that lens will cover all my needs. To get that range in a 1.6x requires 3 separate lenses.

The weight and size is an issue. I would not wnat to buy a 70-200 2.8 while I would be happy to carry a f4 - only thing is that I hope street price settles at around 900-1000 which is sensible seeing what the non IS version costs.

I keep hoping for an update to the 100-400IS (with new generation IS),or a 200-500L with IS would be even better. Without getting into really expensive glass you could then have the 17-40L, the 24-105L, one of the 70-200 lenses, and a 200-500L IS. That would do it for me.

There's nothing I really want, so I'll have a bigger bank account!

I was awaiting with some trepidation that they would release the 400 5.6L IS with a closer minimum focus distance that would cost twice as much as the old one but not be as sharp.
