Sydney's City to Surf fun run
Sydney’s annual City to Surf fun run took place again on Sunday 13 August. There were 63,000 participants in the 14km / 8 mile run from the CBD along the harbour and on to Bondi Beach.
While the elite athletes complete the (very hilly) course in just over 40 minutes the rest of the field can take up to 3 hours. In the past I’ve gone to photograph the serious runners. This year I looked at the second half of the field and found some great characters. Young children being pushed in prams, slightly older kids dressed as fairies and adults dressed as Smurfs, Incredibles, Santa Claus, whatever. All sorts of outlandish costumes among the “runners” and “walkers” all making their way to the beach.
Photos taken with 300D (now approaching 3 years old) and 70-200 f4.
A couple of the characters:
Love the hair
A really lived-in looking face
Time to stop for a photo-op
