New SD700 IS with "lens error, restart camera" message

Best Buy comes through

I took the camera into Best Buy, with the box, receipt, etc. and explained to the kid behind the Customer Service counter what had happened and he didn't give me any trouble at all. He said that since it was only a few days past the 14 day limit they would exchange it for a new one. Five minutes later I left with a new camera. This is why I was willing to pay a little more to buy from a brick and mortor store in the first place. I don't think Abe's, Buydig, 42nd Street, etc. would have been as easy to deal with.

I'm curious how often this problem occurs. I did a search on here and found several other posts about this error and one link to a web site http://www.e18error.com/ that seems dedicated to this problem. On the other hand, Canon's website has no mention of it at all. Nothing comes up in a search of the Support, FAQs or elsewhere.
