There may be another way out there to do the same thing, but the Ofoto Now software (free download at http://www.ofoto.com ) will automatically (upon insertion of the Memory Stick) activate, create a directory with the current date, and if the option is selected, it will delete the contents of the memory stick. One note, the software in it's default settings will rename the files. I personally prefer the file names to retain the sequential names assigned by the camera.

By the way, Ofoto provides really nice prints from digital images. It also happens to be the provider of prints if you buy through Sony's Imagestation service.

P.S. I'm not a shill for Ofoto, I just think they put out a good product. If anyone has better recommendations out there I'm certainly willing to try them out, so far this is my favorite.

Michael,

I drag the MS contents with the right mouse to the desktop, and select 'Move'. As easy as that.

Yes, you can do that, but that doesn't show you the pictures or automatically create and name a folder for them. Either the Ofoto program or Microsoft XP work very well. I have been using both, and if you want to get professional prints, Ofoto is a slick program to use.

Mike,

I agree. I am very impressed with the Ofoto Now software and found the quality of their prints to be outstanding. The red eye fix in Ofoto Now is also one of the easiest to use and works very well.

I just create a subdirectory with the name I want in the "My documents/pictures" directory then go to the "removeable drive" and select all and right click on them and move them to the new directory. Takes all of 10 seconds. Don't need any third party software taking up space on my hard drive for something as simple as that.

I have been looking into ofoto.com though for processing my photos. They're prices look reasonable and from the comments I've seen on the forums the quality is exceptional. The only drawback is that I do a lot of 8x10's and ofoto is a little too expensive for my tastes in that regard.
