Mack warranty question

I recently bought a Nikon-refurbished D50 which comes with a 90-day Nikon warrantly. I store I got it from, Overstock.com, doesn't sell Mack warranties so I looked into buying one elsewhere. However, I wasn't sure which warranty to buy. I noticed that Beach Camera offers the regular Mack warranty for new cameras for sale along with their refurbished D50s. But when I asked Mack which warranty I needed, they said that only the warrantly special for used cameras would cover refurbished models (and yes, I mentioned that it was refurbished by Nikon). Does anyone know anything about this? The only references here I see are to people buying the regular Mack warranty with refurbished D50s....

The key is did the camera come with a blank USA warranty card as, say, the Cameta demo auctions? If so, one can get a 3-year/5-year Mack warranty for new digitals (Keep in mind the warranty is for the body and not the kit so value accordingly...)

If no warranty card, only the used extended warranty by Mack would be available.

By the by, you can buy the Mack warranty through any authorized reseller; not necessarily through the digi seller...

i too bought a refurb'd from overstock and want to buy a mack warranty. Since I purchased it for under $500, can i get that warranty? Or do I have to go w/ the msrp of the D50? thanks to anyone who knows.

Yes, it comes with a blank warranty card (90-day). But Mack said I still couldn't use the regular warranty...!?

Apparently, the issue of refurb comes into play as classifying the item as 'Used' and not a demo or new...

Mack Warranties are based on the purchase price paid...

called mack today, and they told me the 1012 or 1058 is the one for a refurb'd. She did not mention anything about a 'used' warranty. thanks everyone.

....but beach camera told me another story. I think they wanted to sell me the $89.00 warranty instead of the 1058...so I guess who you wanna believe. I will go w/ what mack says.

And shop around the Mack Dealers and ask for best price matching... when you've determined the best price. The vendors set their own 'resale' pricing that varies considerably...
