I emailed Fuji and asked them about when a new E-series camera is going to be out. I received this response:

The next several models being introduced from now until the fall are not E series cameras. This is subject to change, but this is all the information we have at this time. There will be an A series, F series, Z series, and S series introduced within the next couple of months.

Maybe some of you know about this already, but I thought I'd share that information on the forum.

So there will be a new ultra zoom camera, cheap F and A series camera and Z4 with 6th generation ccd and a new color. :) From those that new S-series ultra zoom should be interesting, beware S3 and H2/H5.

And don't forget S4 Pro :)

Most of the people that I FUJIFILMed did not know that there was someone.

Jessica-

Great info!

Anybody have any idea when these will be released and which "S" it will be... 5200 or 9000 ?

If Fuji does what few expect this time out -- i.e., introduces major changes -- my bet for the S series is a 9XXX successor. Don't believe it would allow a 5200 successor to encroach on the 9000's market.

If Fuji does goes with minor upgrades, my bet is still an S9XXX. Why? Because such a move will create wonder. A 50% price cut on the S3 would be an interesting move.

Given Fuji's world view, though, who knows?

With the rebate being offered on the S9000, I'd expect it will be superceded soon by another model. S1K anyone???

I guess we'll just have to wait and see....

What I did notice was the following when I was looking in some stores here in the Netherlands yesterday:

The S5600 is on display in quite alot of them
The S9500 can be found in just a very few of them
The F11 is on display in half of them
The F30 is not to be found anywhere, except online stores
The E900 is on display in half of them

Besides that: Fuji cams in general get very little exposure here. I did notice what others complain about alot: first time buyers were looking at the memory cards and were basing their camera choice on that, the choice was not that hard as the xD cards are almost twice for the same amount of memory. The difference is smaller online, but that's not where the majority of the people buy their cameras...

When I look at this forum, the newest cameras are not even settled in yet or they just start to settle in, it just feels odd to announce new cameras "so quickly", the enormous delay in F30 delivery\production doesn't help with that either. Perhaps we can expect a S5650? :)

Could it be that the Z series talked about is the Z3 and the F series the F30? Both are in the stroes in Japan but apparently not worldwide. I am thinking that 'introduced' might mean different things to different people. Can't see Fuji announcing new models when the 'current ones' are not even fully out yet. That would fall into the 'Osborne Error' or whatever it is called.

BTW, I have never seen an E900 in Japan, although the Fujis get major shelf space here.

The "retail price" of the E900 recently dropped $100, though I have yet to see this reflected in the Web prices. Rebates are better, for they benefit buyers of 'stale" stock, too, not just new stock.

That's weird. This summer I have seen a major price drop. Today 50x or so 512Mb SD card costs only 10€ more than Xd card M or H type in a market. Online the prices are about the same(Xd costs 10€ more), I don't know about photography shops how much they charge. This summer we have sold much more Olympus than any other year. We sell two times less Canon this year and Sony W50 almost as much as Ixus60. In my country Canon is the biggerst player with about 40-50% share of cameras sold last year. People have started to realize battery life and quality, so after one year with Ixus40 and cracked lcd or A520 with the usual problems they have started to move away from Canon. F30 has a great battery life and I would take Xd cards and CIPA 580 over SD cards any day since I still save more money and get a better camera.

The olympus cards were alot more expensive at the store in question than the fujifilm cards, usually it's the other way around, it was odd indeed. But the difference between SD and xD was quite big. I think it's all about marketing.......if they have struck a deal with a supplier, they might be obliged to put other formats\manufacturers at a disadvantage.

Regarding new cameras to be announced:

"Those who know anything won't tell you, and those who will tell you don't know anything."

That's buried somewhere in a FAQ inside Bob's site. I saw it yesterday, but on a cursory examination I can't find it again quickly. It rings very true to me.

Nice quote! Sounds like something very plausible! But I do think most people realise the difference between speculation and facts, at least I hope so! Speculation drives this forum....

Sweet maybe this time they'll actually improve upon the S7000, if that's possible? I'd be happy if the new S series (S9000 upgrade?) can shoot in 12mp f & N.

Photographers deal in things which are continually vanishing and when they have vanished there is no contrivance on earth which can make them come back again.

It wil be reat if OIS is in their consideration. Most cameras now are performing dual stabilisation.
My wish list is S9100 with less egapixel 7MP or 6 Mp will e enough + OIS
S5700 OIS with S9000 body and OIS and 6th Generation Super CCD.
But dont think will be in this yr release. maybe a few years down the road.
