Li-Ion battery for discontinued models

depending of course on usage, but lithiums will also degrade at
room temperature without being used at all. See if there is an
online European battery dealer that carries a generic version of
your camera's battery for around 15 Euros. There should be several
to choose from. And of course make sure the new battery is working
OK before storing it, because it will be hard to get a refund
several years from now!
