MC 35 GPS Cable now wireless bluetooth GPS connected

Hi guys

I've modified a MC35 to interface with a serial-> bluetooth adaptor running on the Camera's power.

The Serial to Bluetooth adaptor is pair'ed with a bluetooth GPS ONCE from a computer, and then - when pluged into the camera it automatically connects and gives the camera BT access to GPS data.

the plug:

The entire solution running:

the MC35 was modified to apply power to the serial port Pin 9.

But with a dremmel tool - I think it is possible to get the entire solution embedded into the MC35 - it actually just fits if you remove the external adaptor for power. Watch this space ... for updates.

Advantages -

its is compatible with ANY bluetooth GPS and the Seriel interface is "set" forever to 4800/8/n/1 coms' no matter what Bluetooth GPS you plug in. So most new BT GPS technology will work.

Disadvantage -

  • you need to charge your GPS

  • battery drain on CAM is higher than normal use

I've tested on D2x and D200 and both runs PERFECT!

More info later
