OT - The ASCII character "octatherp"

As today's first offering in the "70th birthday" series of technical articles, I have posted on The Pumpkin something a little different - not really reated to photograhy, but certainly to information technoolgy and the graphic arts. I thought you might find it entertaining.

For may years, we often saw the term "octatherp" applied to the ASCII character "#". The term was actually coined by two of my colleagues as a joke on me - eventually, a joke on the entire information processing world.

The whole story is told (with the customary technical and historical background) in my new article, "The ASCII Character 'Octatherp' ", available here:

Best regards,

Doug
