Lens storage: how do you?

In short, i need somewhere new to store my lenses.

How do you store yours? Is a cupboard such as a linen press/towel/blanket cupboard safe?

Do i really need varying airflow/tempertaure changes? Or is a steady temp. the best?

Since i bought my camera and began collecting lenses i've kept them on a shelf in my loungeroom. I remember hearing that it's good to have them in a spot where there is airflow and moderate changes in temperature. In summer i had aircon on for part of the day but now that it's approaching winter and we've starting using the gas heater, i'm concerned that the warmer air will encourage growth of fungus/mould etc on the glass.

Any ideas/input much appreciated.
