To APO or Not!

Hey all,

I have ordered the Sigma 70-300 APO DG Macro lens. I t will not be available till the end of April.

For the price difference of abouit $120 AUD is it worth the extra cost and wait for the APO when I can go buy a non APO same lens today?

Hello,

First of all I have no idea about the APO, so sorry but can't help there. But I do have a question and suggestion for you. Since you have quoted AUD, I assume you are in Australia. If so, where are you going to buy this lens from and for how much? Have you considered ebay, I see one can be had for around $300 including P&H, with the only trouble being it would be grey market I suspect.

the APO version cuts down on chromatic aberation (purple fringing), I have the version of the apo before the DG coating was added. i have been happy that i got the apo version.

is it ultimately worth it? i think so.

yes. get the APO version.
there is a visible picture quality difference.

Good decision, the non-APO is OK at best, the APO is much better.
