Resolution and flare

The USAF card pictures come out as sharp as one can wish for. Avoid F2.8, use F4, 5.6 or 8 and all will be well. The lens' sweet spot is F5.6.

Flare examples:

Above: The sun is just behind the wall.

Flare does occur when the sun is in picture or close to be in the picture. The flare results in pictures with somewhat lower contrast and a few spoky reflections. The lens handles flare quite well for a fish-eye (So I have heard. I never tried any other fisheye myself.). Here I took a picture of the sun:

Sometimes you can't avoid shooting the sun. Most of the times we can live with the contrast a bit low. With some postprocessing the contrast can be restored and the reflections cloned out.
