Common sense naming system?

Aside from the whirlwind of speculation about the technical details of upcoming Pentax models, can I start a thread to beg for a sane and open-ended, structured naming system?

Canon are the worst offenders, just because of the sheer proliferation of models, but Pentax is heading in a similar direction.

st is a nonsense. But so are all the random 'it sounds sexy' marketing-led names, with meaningless strings of letters and numbers. Olympus did it right with the OM system, OM1 was followed by OM2, OM3 and OM4. Second tier cameras were two digit, OM10, OM20, OM30 and so on. Nikon followed in similar vein at one time.

Adding D on everything will soon be redundant since all but a handfull of niche cameras will be digital. Perhaps they will have the suffix F.

My suggestion: how about PX1, PX2 etc for the pro series, PX10, PX20 etc for semi-pro, and PX100, PX200 etc for entry level series? minor upgrades would then be PX1n and so on (but please not PX1ns markII).

Other suggestions please.
