Jono Slack

Hi Gerald

you should have seen the other 35 pictures -aaaahh - but for me - I still remember those days when I wasn't covered in wrinkles with one eye on the pisss!

I didn't really want to post it at all - I mean - if they found the Loch Ness Monster - or that bear thing in the States - it'd be exciting for about ten minutes and then - bang - there's another little mystery gone

but I promised Jens, and, as Diane said, I'm a man of honour!

Who was that unmasked man? :-)

Take no offense Jono, but after all the exaggerated self-loathing
this was as anti-climactic as Heraldo Rivera's live report on the
contents of Al Capone's Vault... You might've at least warped the
image a bit. :-)

You look as you should, mayhap a bit more lucid than we'd
expect.(more spirits!) ;-)

You could've at least experimented with some Photoshop generated
lens cracks... :-) I've found that self portraits captured through
a mirror have been savng me a fortune in lens repair, however the
bad luck is continually mounting...

My best (not saying much -but consistent),

G.

HI Bob

Furnace incident? sounds pretty nasty - we had one of those in South Wales (or are you in south wales).

I hope everything is okay.

Congratulations on your E20. I hope to have my
E10 or E20 within the next few weeks or so. I would
have it by now but there was a furnace incident that
set me back some. Enjoy

HI
I shouldn't have started this one - one of the bees in my bonnet -
I once read that on an average evening of american television there
were 17 murders and .5 seconds of bare breast
Sounds about right, although to be fair the last few years has seen the advent of many quality programs. Network prime time is still filled with police/medical/sci-fi shows though.. My home in Oregon has (did have till it burned down, but will have again in a few months) a large C/ku band satellite and a small digital dish. I had them not for the 500+ channels they provided, but because of the raw news feeds which are very educational, and for foreign programming. Oh well, it's not a perfect world..
As for the office - it's great -

here's another shot of the inside
It looks great. I have a separate outbuilding which is a barn/shop/office/horse stalls/ and feeder trough which kinda looks like what you have. I love this building, tons of room and places to set up different areas for all sorts of different hobbies. My office was heated by a woodburner also, took about 1/3 hour to light, and another 2/3 of an hour to warm the place up.. I got tired of it after 4-5 years since I sometimes just wanted to go work for a half hour or an hour and didn't want the trouble.. So.. I sprang for a propane unit, with differerent heads in different parts of my shop that could be turned on/off independently.. I had a 500 pound tank mounted outside, and each winter (7 months) I use about $200 in fuel.. The woodburner is still there for it's looks though, but my trees on my land can breath a sigh of relief knowing my chainsaw and splitting mall now in cold storage.. My home itself has/will have again, thermal heating and cooling.. Expensive, but long term the most efficient way to heat/cool.. Before I had that system installed I used to cut and split about 12 cords a year.. Gave me something to do with my free time :)
and here is the outside (on the left, with the house on the right)
bit different from your part of the world, but very nice.
Pretty area.. Not so different... You roof pitch is very high though, you must get a ton of snow? Mine is steep, but not like that..

Sometimes when spending extended stays on assignment I start missing my place, especially in the 100 plus degrees of heat/humidity I deal with in Bangkok.. My home will be done in February, the month I have to take the Vietnam assignment (7 more months) if I want it.. Decisions...I think they really need a national geographic type though, I love my comforts and stuff more than I should.. In Vietnam from my research it'll be very beautiful but very rough going.. I have a problem, I hate to look back and wonder what it something would have been like.. I guess my home can sit empty as it often has for months.. But a brand new home is more exciting than even a new E-20.. Sigh....

Thanks for the pics..

Everything fine. It just needed to be replaced. I couldn't
convince my wife we could go without one. It gets pretty
cold here in Michigan. So, under great protest, my camera
has to wait.
Nothing else better go. My camera comes next. I even wrote
that down and put it on the refrigerator, just in case anyone
needs reminding.

Jono,

Oh, one more comment. I like the curls...are they natural? (Or is that like asking a woman if her breasts are real?) If so, I retract the question.

You're unqualified because you can't play the piano accordian?

Or because you can and you do?

Tone deafedly yours,

P.S. I still like the David Niven comparison.....now THERE was a gentleman....or maybe I'm thinking of Benny Hill.

HI David
Well I'm not tone deaf
but I can't play the piano accordian

and if I could

I certainly would!

so I guess I'm double unqualified!

Hard Luck

And to think - CCD's work better in the cold, so if you'd stuck to your guns you could have taken noiseless pictures in the kitchen!

p.s. we call them boilers here - furnaces are what you get in Steel Mills!

so I was wondering!

no - the curls are definitely real (if I had a penny for every time I was asked that when I was younger). So is the grey colour!

as for the breasts - they're real too!

HI David
actually I always had a face - -

as for the E20 - I'm hoping to get out with it for half an hour this afternoon.

the E10 is still sloshing around somewhere between Portugal and the UK.

So now I have a face with the name, and YOU have your E-20.
Hope you like it.

Thanks, Dave

I'm afraid I'm not really in the same league as you - when I say
'classy' I mean classy for me!
Oh, don't be so self-deprecating! I know absolutely noone IRL who'd have a clue what a Montbazillac or a Barsac is. (They'd probably think I fired the bartender if I started muttering about 'Barsac.')
there's some Montbazillac and a bottle of Barsac - neither of them
remotely grand vintages.
Well, I'll shamefully admit to only having a Beerenauslese on hand at present.
one day maybe!
Same here. I caved in and drank my Barsac some time ago, and haven't yet replaced it. They probably aren't cheap in the UK either!
so - what's for desert :^)
Dang. Makin' me hungry again. Just found a recipe for an apple cake served with Roquefort -- that might do the trick for a Barsac, methinks.

Didn't think you would - s'true though - I may be old, but I can
make it to the wine rack in the house - this one has mostly malt
whiskey and gin - together with a couple of bottles of classier
desert wine.

Oooh.... Oneophiles abound. Whatcha' got there, Sauternes,
Trockenbeerenauslese, Tokaj, Port, what?

I need to know so that I can bring the appropriate dessert, you
see.... Chocolate souffle' cake with the Port, Raspberry and pastry
cream Gateaux with the Trocken.... oh, I'm getting hungry now, all
your fault!

May all your corks stay moist,

F.J.

Mmm, Montbazillac, one of my favs, always underated but perfect with a little Foie Gras.

Now I'm getting really hungry.

Nice self portrait Jono, wouldn't have recogonized you from your shadow shot. Funny how people always look shorter in real life, hehehe.

Enjoyed your web site too.

Hi

:^?

dunno what a Beerenauslese is - I'm afraid . As for expensive over here, well, there's BARSAC and there's barsac - and ours is definitely barsac!

prefer the montbazillac myself, but maybe it's because I've been there!

Hi Gerald
you should have seen the other 35 pictures -aaaahh - but for me - I
still remember those days when I wasn't covered in wrinkles with
one eye on the pisss!

I didn't really want to post it at all - I mean - if they found the
Loch Ness Monster - or that bear thing in the States - it'd be
exciting for about ten minutes and then - bang - there's another
little mystery gone
Hmmmmmmm, OTOH, I also suspect that you, as I, may believe that Gentlemen are also known as horse thieves and liars... ;-)

Perhaps that really wasn't you? Maybe it's a carefully crafted bit of British humor designed to mislead the masses? Perhaps there is still a mystery at hand. Is that really Jono? Are there more than one of him? Who was holding the camera? Despite that carefully posed hand holding a remote I'm not entirely sure the effect of using a tripod wasn't carefully planned. Perhaps the REAL Jono Slack was again behind the camera? Is that a crop circle espied in the background?

No takers? Oh, well, so much for mythos... Some say the greek gods all went home again because the people stopped believing in them. Sad. I hear Venus was a cutie. ;-)

PS. As for the wrinkles, consider them badges of office. Bet you earned every one fair and square. :-)

PPS. If/when I post a self-portrait the mystery of Bigfoot will at last be set to rest... sadly, there dies another myth. :-)
