My little grandson turned 1. Can't believe it has already been a year. Here are a couple of photos from his birthday party.

To celebrate, I bought a new lens for my D70, the 17-55 f2.8. I really like it so far--very sharp.

Congratulations on your grandson's birthday and on your new purchase. I think you will really enjoy the 17-55.

Looks like everyone had a good time at the party. All very nice photos, but I love the first image. You have a very handsome grandson.

Thanks for sharing,

Congratulation, for your grandson birthday and your 17-55.
many people say 17-55 is the first and the best among Nikkor zoom lenses.
maybe it's not first but sure one of the best.

I should use my 18-70 and 28-200 until next century!! and save my money to pay for a 17-55 and a 80-400 (my dream).

golly! those are crazy sharp and looks like the bday was a blast! i am curious about your flash setup. this was definately not on board flash - what did you use? excellent captures, thanks for sharing :)

Hi ****--

I've been comtemplating the purchase for quite a while. Two days before the party I just went for it!!! I have such a hard time making up my mind.

Maybe you should buy yourself one for your birthday!!! I think it will be my birthday, anniversary, easter, and Christmas present for this year.

It is a very good lens. I intend to keep it for hiking and times that I want a lighter weight lens. Thanks for commenting here. Good luck saving for your dream.

I used the SB800 bounced off the ceiling with the reflector card pulled out. It seemed to work great. I may have used the flash pointed directly with the diffuser on some--can't remember for sure, but most were bounced.

(oops . . . pushed [post] before I was ready)

I was going to add . . . I recently added a 28-70 2.8 to my collection, and I think it has become my most used lens now.

Once you experience that little extra umph, you can't go back, eh?

Congratulations on your purchase. I'm sure you won't regret it.

You don't know how I agonized between the 28-70 and the 17-55. I finally decided on the 17-55 because I wanted to use it for landscapes and family events. I still wonder if I made the right decision. You are right about the pro lenses. They are so nice. The 70-200 spoiled me. I think that I will never have a huge collection of lenses. I got the Canon 500D to attach for macros. If I like that combination, I might be satisfied for a while.

I am thinking about that D200, though.
