Windows XP and 1270 problem
I was a beta-tester for XP, and have been using my 1270 with it for over six months. I have not used the Epson XP driver, but I have been using the Windows 2000 driver with considerable success (it works the same as it did when I was running Windows 2000 before XP).
Do NOT use the Microsoft driver that Windows XP installs by default. The image quality is lousy, you can't monitor ink, and you can't use custom profiles. I did, incidentally, file a bug on this, but MS closed it as "functions as designed". Install an Epson driver and use that instead (you won't be able to get rid of the MS driver, since if you delete it it will just come back).
Ditto on Tony's comments.
I did a clean install (along side Win98SE) and after that the
output from the 1270 was awful. Obviously I lost the Monaco
monitor/scanner calibrations and I have to go back thrugh that
again. Other than that, I love XP. Its unbelievably stable
compared to Win98SE (which crashed frequently.) XP = No Crashes in
over a week.
