No, it doesn't work that way. The noise isn't somehow going to magically disappear by making the sensor bigger while keeping the pixels the same size. You would just end up with a noisy 55mp image, plus have to deal with the inherent problems of having tiny pixels on a large sensor (light falloff for example).

If Fuji was able to make an 55mp APS sensor that had as good or better noise than the 20D, don't you think they would? They do make DSLRs, remember. Even if they could make one that was 20mp they would. But they can't, because the technology is not there -- yet.
