Diffraction

Diffraction certainly starts biting not far past the pixel density of the 20D - the D2X is fairly constrained in that way.

For those who would like to know more on the subject, see my OP which has a link to how diffraction works.

Doesn't diffraction negate the need for vast increases in pixel
count? The EOS 20D sensor is already affected by diffraction at
about f11 - is there a great deal of point gaining noise for the
sake of extra pixels with no significant extra resolution. The
obvious answer is a bigger sensor and full-frame is there for those
that want or need it.
