Hi,

I read that canon is supposed to anounce the new 35d the next few days.
With this new model, do you think eos350d price might drop?

My point is: with more models on the market, maybe canon tries to fight with the 350d in the DSLR entry-level, so, closer to d50 price (which by now is much cheaper).
What do you think?

thanks,
rui

Yes the Rebel XT will come down in price because of falling prices of Pentax *ist DL, Nikon D50 and Minolta D5D. Sony will have new models of DSLR cameras based on the Minolta Maxxum mount by summer and Samsung will so selling Pentax mount DSLR cameras soon. There will be more competition and therefore lower prices.

The original announcement from Canon said they would announce new cameraS on 21st. I still think there is the likely-hood of a 3000D or 3500D or similar at an extremely low price-point as well as a 20D replacement. Time will tell..
phillip..

I saw a Nikon D50 with cheap (28-70mm or something) zoom lens for sale today for $599. That is a good price for a good camera. No joke.

I think there are strong reasons for all the manufacturers to be prepared to drop their prices. There is no money in the P&S market, so if you want to sell a DSLR you will need to be on top of the game with features or price.

The 350D is a nice little camera, no doubt, but with a new model coming in over the top, and Nikon trying hard with the D50 there is only one way the 350D's price is going to go.

Then you have the Sony R1 to deal with...different camera, but good for what it does.

Everyone seems to be stuck on '30D' or '35D'

Wouldn't it be more logical to have the name 33D to match the naming of the film line (33V)?

just a thought
