Re: typically....

I've been trying to stay away from this little debate but i just can't help myself......

not quite sure why people is so sensitive and precious about a rather innocent (i thought anyway) comment/observation that CHIA and Mark B made.....

I have to admit, I love my DSLR but I also love my P&S..... I would not imagine using my P&S without the LCD viewfinder and I would not buy a camera without it but I would gladly give up the optical viewfinder on a P&S because it's not really suited to it's purpose (i've got an ixusi which does not have an OVF).....

At the same time, I would gladly give up the LCD view finder on my DSLR but there's no way i would get a DSLR without an OVF..... I'm not going to not buy a dSLR if it's got a LCD view finder but for someone who uses SLR would know, they will shoot > 90% of the time (and no i don't have stats to prove this, it's only a guess - a conservative one at that because i would go up to 99%) using the OVF.

There are certainly times where an LCD view finder would be useful for me at shoots but frankly there are much more important things to improve on a dSLR than this......

I think the majority (again no stats to back this statement) of SLR users would agree to this - the exceptions would probably be those who shoot photos that would make it impossible to have your eye on the OVF, but i would think these type of photos opportunity or photographers are in the minority.....
