Worth sticking with Minolta? (Canada)

Hi all,

This is my first post here so go easy on me...

I've got a 19 year old Maxxum 7000 that works fine. I know it's 19 because I bought it when my daughter was born, and she's old enough to drink now.

I was excited to see that I could buy a digital body that would work with my old lenses ( a 50 mm F/1.7 and a 70-210 F/4). However, before I could check out a 5D or 7D at the local store, Minolta pulled out of Canada.

So now I'm in a quandry. Should I order a 5D sight unseen, mainly so I can use these old lenses? I doubt if they're worth much. If I got a 5d I'd probably also get a new 18-70 lens.

My interest - scenery, pets and people, in roughly that order

On the other hand, the Canon 20d or Rebel XT look really good, and the sample pictures I have seen are astounding. But I'd have to buy new lenses. Argh!
