Hi folks,

I was playing around on my camera the other day and accidently deleted an image that I wanted to keep.

Does anybody know if its possible to get back a deleted file? If so how?

Thanks

You may have a very good chance with specialized software but you MUST NOT WRITE ANYMORE IMAGES on the card. If you already did, your chances are greatly reduced.

Do a search on internet for "rescues software" or something like that. Some folks may have a more precise info for you. Good luck.

Gerald

I had lost quite a lot of photos from my card and I took it to a photography shop and they were able to retrieve most of them with one of these rescue programmes. All the best.

By the way, are you happy with this camera? What is the shutter delay like? I have the s500 which has almost no shutter delay but I have been thinking about getting the z750

almost no shutter delay also on z750

Prego then! :)

Non c'e di che! I presume you have the z750 then? is the quality of the video also very good? I recently lost my s500 in a shop and found it again 2 days later but the lcd screen is broken so I'm trying to decide whether to have the screen fixed or buy a new camera - maybe the Z750.

I've had good luck with Photorescue ( http://www.datarescue.com/photorescue ) from Belgium. You can download a demo version which will tell you whether recoverable images exist. If they do, you buy the full version (US $29) which will recover the files. Here's a review of it: http://www.imaging-resource.com/SOFT/PHR/PHR.HTM - The Imaging Resource folks routinely include a mention of it in most of their camera reviews. I've only needed it a few times, but it's been a lifesaver then. I've used it to recover images from corrupted cards, not just accidental erasures.

Don't buy a z750! This is a wonderful camera when it works, but it has been plagued with two problems, the infamous "lens error" problem and the "spontaneous LCD death" problem. The first happened to me when mine was 11 days old. Fortunately because it happened so soon, the vendor (Abe's of Maine, good folks) sent me a replacement (last July). Two weeks ago the LCD on the replacement one, after 5+ months of good service, suddenly died.

I sent it to Casio and just today I received an "Estimate" for repair for $167. I called them and they refused to fix it under the warranty saying I must have done something to break it. I made an impassioned appeal to the lady on the phone and she said she would ask the higher-ups and would call me back. Well, she never called back, but maybe she will tomorrow. I still have a slim hope that they will honor the warranty, and will post here tomorrow after I find out.

But regardless of that, the 750 is a gamble against poor odds. There have been LOTS of reports of these two problems here in this forum over the past year. Don't buy this camera unless you like playing "Casio Roulette".

Regards,
Clayton

You will only hear about the bad experiences of any product, only because people will look for a solution/answer as to why they are have problems. The majority of people that do not have any problems do not post to forums as they have no need to!

I have a Z750, have experienced the Lens Error problem, got around it, and still use my Z750 to this day.

The Z750 is a fantastic camera in it's class. I would recommend it to anyone, but I would also suggest to people to check the camera in store for the known probs before purchasing it.

i'm not that expert, but as far as i can see the video quality is very good. for sure it's better than my previous z40's . I've done many funny videos and i've got no complains at all under this point of view.

In the end - I just bought it! I hadn't completely decided yet but at London airport I found it at a decent price (I think) and went for it. This time though I also got a 5 year insurance. The problem unfortunately with the s500 was that the screen was completely shot and had to be replaced so it would have been quite expensive and I was a bit concerned that it would always have some kind of problem. I may still have it fixed a little later on. Right now I am trying to figure out how to use the manual controls on the 750 since I am really just a beginner at this!

Thanks you guys for all your help - every bit of advice, positive or negative, really helps.
