"TV Quality Video" rant

while it is true that NTSC video is really an analog format, really it is quasi analog

there 525 horizontal lines whcih are very well defined by the signal, as there is a synch for each vertical line so it is easy to count the lines

on the other hand the vertical lines are a continuous signal, and that part of the signal is truly an analog signal.

now of course a TV has dots on its screen that are activated so this analog signal is converted to discrete dots

i don't think we need to be really technical about this,

to me, tv quality means that on a normal say 27" TV you can't tell much difference between the video and what you would receive
