C-8080 tripod interface?

G'day folks,

I am having a problem with mounting the C-8080 on a tripod. The screw attaches fine, but the hole in the camera base for the little "locking pin" from the tripod head is too small in diameter. Since the pin in the tripod head is spring loaded, it simply gets mashed down between the camera bottom and the tripod head, so it's not engaged in the hole. This means the camera is still free to rotate left or right without turning the tripod head. For camera-only horizontal framed shots, this is okay. But for vertical frame shots, the camera needs to be supported by hand to keep it from slipping under its own weight. And it is a real problem when you attach the TCON-14D teleconverter---it is so much weight that the camera is very unstable on the tripod head without that little locking pin engaged.

I have not found a single tripod head in camera shops that has a pin that would fit in the hole on the C-8080. So how are are supposed to use this camera on a tripod? Are there different styles of tripod head? Which types would work in this case? Do different countries have different types?

Many thanx for any info anyone can provide in dealing with this problem.

Regards,
K
