Skin reflectance (albedo) of different populations

Skin reflectance

African (Black) 5 - 10%
African (Pigmy) 10 - 15%
Indian (India) 15 - 30%
Iranian 20 - 40%
European 35 - 60%

Ref.

Jablonski, N.G. and Chaplin, G., The evolution of human skin coloration. J Hum Evol 2000; 39: 57-106

So calculation based on 18% reflectance will fall short by at least 1 & possibly 2 stops for Europeans. If the calculation is based on 12%, as suggested in this webpage http://www.bythom.com/graycards.htm , then it is another half a stop more.

I face this exposure problem (with or without flash) on every tour as our group includes people of West African, Indian Indian & north European origin. There is no way to get all of them properly exposed in the same photograph.
