Us old-timers need to be reminded...
I could fill a page with the advantages of film and mechanical cameras, too. You pointed out some of them. You could almost pound nails with the K1000 and still take pictures. The Exactas were another matter unfortunately. Interesting cameras but not high for reliability.
A big item would be that they were all the same number of megapixels in a way. My Kodak Retina has the same capability and sharpness of my most expensive Nikon camera/lens combo or your K1000. Same dynamic range. Same capabilities of a good photo or a bad one. You just picked different film for different results and relied on your skill.
