I normally order 8x10's when I use my online printing service from photobox.co.uk.

My query is this - if I want a borderless print at home using one of the Canon or HP home printers, how do I print a 8x10 borderless photo? Surely these manufacturers only sell the photo paper in A4 size, not 8x10? Or is 8x10 paper size available from these manufacturers?

I think most manufacturers supply paper in the common text printer page sizes. See this link for information on one of the more popular ones.

Most use software like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements, or Qimage to crop the image so it can be printed borderless on the paper with the different aspect ratio. The other option of course is to print it to 8x10 image and then just use a paper trimmer to cut to the 8x10 size.

Checking on my Canon i9900, borderless prints are available on A4 or American letter size (8.5x11 inch). Not on 8X10, sorry. If you have this printer, it seems you'll need to print 8X10 in letter size or A4 and go get the razor blade.

Don't know about other printers.

The Canon s800 (A4 max) doesn't support borderless printing.

The s9000 (A3+ max) does, as does the Pixma i3000 (A4 max).

The 9000 is older, but the 3000 should still be around. Their replacements are likely to be more capable rather than less.

In the 9000 and 3000 set-up windows you can set a Custom size,
eg 8 x 10 in, and print borderless if you wish.

The manufacturers' websites may have more information.

Happy hunting,

I've had three Canon printers that print borderless, but only on specific sizes of paper. Using a custom size would not work.

Hi Sam,

You're right. I've just experimented again, and failed. My apologies for the misleading post. Looks like printing on oversize paper and trimming is the way to go with a Canon.
