My friend just got a G2 several days ago, and has found the following problem :-

occurrence of unusual brightness or darkness in the LCD panel display.

Another friend has a G1, also found "similar" problem (his firmware has already been upgraded to the latest version by Canon service center, during a repair of its "Dead Pixel"), but to lesser extent than the G2.

Do anyone of G2 end-users also discovered similar problem ?

Just point to a subject, no need to press the shutter button, and look at the LCD.

e.g. at in-door office lighting condition, point at your table or nearby objects --- you will see the change in brightness/darkness in the LCD of the G2 or G1.

I just got a G2, and I have no idea what you're talking about.

Even my old Kodak DC 3400 does this. It's quite normal. It might bother people that the steps are discrete and not continuous, but that's because the shutter speeds/aperatures are discrete.

do you mean while looking at the LCD you see it go dark, then boom lighter, then dark ?

yes mine does this also, I am glad it happens to others, that means it's ok

The G2 rocks ! - my God, this cam is NICE.... I got it yesterday, and am buying that lensmate thing - I already see some dust on my lens, and am too paranoid.

I don't think I'll even have a beer and then handle the cam, - it's just too expensive.

Pls try this way :-
(1) Point the G2 to a BLANK wall;
(2) Half depress the shutter button;
(3) see if you found the LCD start to flicker at quite a fast rate !???

my friend has compared the same scenario using a G1, but only found an Orange warning indicator flashing, but don't found any LCD flicker !

Is this the design of G2 (BAD), or particular problem on this G2 ???
