FZ30 - Who has Black - Who has Silver?

Currently own neither. Sold FZ20 as low light performance was too challenging. Now own Nikon D70s after brief flirtation with D50. Thinking I'd like the FZ30 in silver/titanium/gunmetal gray. That way I won't get it mixed up with the D70s. By the way, it looks great in both colors, but I'm leaning toward silver. I do miss having such great zoom capability in one generally lightweight package. Checked my usual source, Circuit City, and they don't offer it yet. Then checked Beach and it isn't there, but they have new FZ10 models in both colors for about $489. Finally, went to B&H and surprisingly they have both FZ30 models for $609! Tempting.

That's $40 cheaper than I got mine for from BuyDig (in the same building as Beach) two weeks ago....

FWIW: Available light, handheld:

(Low in-cam NR Nor any NR after-the-fact neither) But it's probably not as consistant as the D70 especially if ya mistakenly push the WB hue all the way to the bleu side:

And it didn't do a bad

through the contraption pictured above in my other reply titled: "Please! If you don't mind," ;-}

I bought the silver FZ-20 and hated it! Reminded me of a plastic Tonka Toy.

Gave it to my son and bought the black FZ-20 which, IMHO, is much more attractive....something that looks like a real camera!

So, when it came time to buy the FZ-30, there was no hesitation...at all, and definitely no regrets!
FWIW......The silver version of the 30 DOES look much better than the 20!

hey Ross, do you have a photo of how your cord of the dps9000 goes right over the top? When I used it with the fz20 I could neatly wrap it around the camera and it was out of the way. I don't use it on my fz30 now because I have found no way to get the dang cord out of the way and I can't tolerate it the way it is.

With the 9k plug facing the front, the cord runs up the front between the grip & barrel, across the top of the flash and down between strap loop & access door to the camera power receptical... Doesn't even interfere with the pop-up or hotshoe....

A shot in the dark of a whim,$20, Ebay auction find that prettymuch sucks alone but stacks decently, especially with the B300 & that's the only way I'd recommend using it... If you can find it... Sorry it has no model number or name on it other than what is in the subject line & high resolution AF & Japan.... Here's the pics that appeared in the listing of the auction I won

it came with everything pictured & in B/N condition....
Good luck....

Those are all great night shots. You can almost see human footprints on the moon's surface!

and on my fz5, I did a cord-wrap-around kind of thing, sort of like you say:

but the shortened plug is far better. (soldering iron not included) ;)

you're bound to find what works best... I know of one who drilled a hole in the access door for the 9k plug to prevent the other recepticles from expopsure not to mention the door catching on anything... LOL
