Studio lighting kit in a camera bag.

The only light used for the shot of the 105mm Micro Nikkor is the homely looking flashlight diffused with some paper napkin material. It fits in a camera bag!

The photograph of the lens is a compilation of about 15 separate images of 4 seconds exposure each. I used a D70S and the kit lens. In each image the flashlight was held in a different position, and moved around during the exposure to blur shadows. Various positions were selected to simulate key, fill, kicker etc.

It's not as much work as you might think. Time to do all the exposures was less than 2 minutes, time to create the stacked composite maybe another 2 minutes. Time to set up lights...zero. Tripod and very dark room required.
