Hi Mike!

I agree with Stig, that the "standard" contrast of a dark sky is missing from your shot, but the dark water makes up for that partly.

I had a play with your first image. I am sure you can do better curves than me, but to give you an idea for more omph , I used a "standard" S-curve. I lost the subtle shadows on the right side of the shed, but with a bit more skills, you probably can keep them.

If you still got the RAW, colour IR might resolve the problem of the trees growing into the clouds. But hey, I'm a techie, no a artie, what do I know!
