Oly 50-200 vs Sigma 55-200 (5 pics)

Hi everyone,

This is for those interested in Oly’s 50-200 & Sigma 55-200.

While I was playing with those two lenses this morning, I remembered recent questions regarding differences between them. I took this image and did some comparison.

First what becomes obvious is that Sigma is with slightly shorter range (see first image), although exif is saying 200mm for bought.

Second, I like Olys colours better, although if shooting RAW, this is not a problem.

Other differences are well known…

Here are 5 pictures. Here is what I did:

I took them one after other, from the same spot. They are taken at their maximum zoom by E-300, ISO 100 and aperture priority 5.6; converted from RAW, just a touch of WB correction for Sigma, cropped at 100% and saved as jpg 12 (maximum quality). No other pp.

The first image is 100% (fit to window):

Starting from the top of the images and going down:

Not a scientific project at all, but hopefully to give some idea to those who are looking for those two lenses.
