screen flicker and problem images - any ideas - maintenance?
My 3 year-old S45 has recently developed a flickering screen - horizontal "scan lines" flickering on and off at random at various positions on the screen. They are always in the same direction but appear at varying intensity.
These lines are appearing on some of my images - I imagine if the shot is taken while a flicker is "in progress". Currently about 20% of my images have this problem.
See a sample here:
Obviously there's a problem with the camera, but does anyone know if this looks like a serious problem (sensor needs replacing for example) or could it just be a simple problem (electrical contacts need cleaning for example)?
Are there any simple maintenance things I could do myself before taking it to a repairer?
Also, since I have never had a problem with a digital camera before, could someone please advise whether repairs are likely to cost more than a new camera, or can some things be fixed quite cheaply?
Thanks in advance
