Slide copiers with 1.6 crop DSLRs

Thanks Steve. That does not sound too difficult.

I actually have an old cheap film scanner which I hated using. It never got re-installed after changing computers. I wanted the 100mm macro anyway and I figured it might save me buying a film scanner for the archive stuff that has not been scanned yet.

BTW the 100mm macro is a wonderful lens for normal work. The only difference you can see from f2.8 to f11 is the change in depth of field. Contrast and sharpness for in focus areas could not be better.

I have a MkI. Apart from being rather noisy, I love it. The MkII seems to be a major redesign but both lenses are excellent.

Yeah, I actually am involved in the purchasing of high-end computer and telephony equipment. Negotiating some standard of performance and reliability measures are par for the course with most contracts. If they don't meet them and refuse to rectify the situation then off we go to court... That is the point of view I am coming from. I usually don't whip out the lawyer hat just for retail purchases. :) Sorry if I stirred up the pot. When you are making multi-million dollar purchases, getting guarantees on things is usually a good idea if you really need feature X to work with a certain performance/reliability specification.
Email the manufacturer of the product and/or ask the people you are
buying it from about this. Then make them guarantee you that it
will work. And if it doesn't then hold them to their word and get
a full refund if it doesn't. If they assure you it works and it
doesn't then they have misrepresented their product to you.

... I'd offer to help you 'on the cheap'. We used to scan on a
commercial basis, and I still have some of the equipment. We
produce 11MP files from standard 35mm.
Otherwise, the slide copiers that fit in place of a lens only work
with full frame cameras (unless you WANT to crop.) I sold a
variable magnification one on eBay a few months ago, that could
crop nicely.
Thanks for that confirmation of my fears. :-(

I have a modest mid on an eBay item, with less than 24hrs to go, so I may end up with it . . .
