List price €450, the better mailorder outlets offer €400+.

That's a steal, compared to Nikon's bulky and heavy AF 1.4/28D (€2400).

But when looking at the Canon EF 1.8/28 USM, I become less impressed by the Sigma, almost same size, weight and price.

A Canon EF-S 1.4/30 could take advantage of the shorter backfocus distance whilst the Sigma DC must comply with Nikon and other DSLR mounts with "normal" backfocus.

It is sad that Canon's first prime EF-S is the 2.8/60 macro. But perhaps they sit on stocks of unsold EF wideangle primes.
