Lanterns in Kyoto

Hello all!

I confess: I have become a lantern fanatic and I know when it started: a month ago in Japan! In Kyoto we attended the lantern festival to celebrate Spring and the coming of the Cherry Blossoms. I made a special gallery for all those wonderful Kyoto lanterns that were hanging and standing everywhere. See http://www.pbase.com/hiddemans/kyoto_lanterns . Here's already a small selection:

Some details: Most shots were taken with tripod, exept "Alignment" which was handheld. The tripod allowed for long shutter times, which helped me to "fade out" passers-by. They actually look a bit ghost-like which adds effect. All pictures were underexposed so I brought up the shadow levels in PSP9. Resized and sharpened (USM) for the web.

Most important: I treated Mrs HiddeMans to a good meal first and so we spend our walkabout-cum-photoshoot in good harmony
Enjoy!
