I tried to purchase a 350D through Dell today and the additional 15% discount is no longer in effect. The total when both Dell coupons applied (10% for over a $250 purchase and one for an additional 15% off) brought the price of a 350D with lens kit to just under $765 USD. Does anyone have any other suggestions other than Dell for comparable pricing using a reputable company?

Someone reported that they've been able to take a printout of their Dell shopping cart into a local Best Buy and get a price match.

I noticed ritzcameral.com was doing a $50 instant rebate. $50 is better than nothing.
 
I've seen more than one online site selling the black kits for
just over $719-729. I see one site that sells silver kits for $479!

I dont see how that can be right. I emailed em. (are they American?, etc) I wonder if wholesaler cost difference between the colors is much narrower than that. I'd bet the silver just isnt selling like the black. If they really are selling silver for that, it might be one of the best prices for months to come. I dunno.
 
Have to be careful if a price seems too good to be true...

Some of these "bargain" prices show up on Amazon among the list of Amazon partner sellers. A few had the black Rebel XT kits listed for $600.

After email msgs to make sure the kit is complete, new, with USA warranty etc, they say, "You will receive payment instructions from Amazon."

The instructions come but not really from Amazon, "Send the payment by Western Union directly to the Seller. Do not pay through the Amazon site."

Of cousre it's a scam and if you look again at the Amazon site, the seller's listing is gone.

The lowest price is not always the best price.

It may be 479 British pounds and not US$. That would make more sense.

Or just one of those shady NYC camera stores like A&M Photoworld. That price is for some "grey market" version that doesn't really exist. Call them up and ask for the US version and it will be double the price.

The 15% worked for me stacked with $65 off. This is Dell Home.

Most of the Coupon Codes that Dell offers are limited to a certain amount of uses. For example the 15% off was limited to 4000 uses. I would suggest keeping an eye out at http://forums.slickdeals.net or http://www.techbargains.com as people will post new coupon codes and promotions as they become available.

P.S: If you don't think Dell is a reputable company the who is (Microsoft??) Just a little joke.
 
Best Buy is goofy when it comes to price matching. Every store is different.

The last time I tried a price match was when buying a portable dvd player. The first BB I went into with a printout from a California website (that also has b&m) turned me down, saying they only match local b&m-I live in the Las Vegas area.

I went to a BB across town, asked the manager for a price match and he said, sure, why not?

This has happened on other occasions. It is strictly up to the manager on what they will price match.

This also happened a lot when the high definition DirecTv DVR's first came out. Many people reported different levels of success on price matching these, mainly against Circuit City pricing.
